Kaufman, Texas – Sadly on Tuesday October 2, 2012, Lt. Charles Stastny, 59, lost his long battle with an illness that he fought for some time. Lt. Charles Stastny started with the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office in 1987, and dedicated his life to serving the citizens of Kaufman County for twenty five years.
Lt. Stastny led by example and was a model deputy, mentor, role model and instructor to other deputies. He earned his Master Peace Officer’s License, and also served on the SWAT team. He was awarded multiple commendations and was even honored as Kaufman County Deputy of the Year in 1997-1998. He was a man of incredible moral character and lived his life with dignity and grace.
How fortunate we at the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office are to have been associated with him in the time he spent with us.
To the family of Lt. Charles Stastny, please know that his enthusiasm for the people he loved, his sense of dedication, his ability to make those around him feel special, and his eternal optimism will be sorely missed.
With Deepest Sympathy,
Sheriff David Byrnes &
The Officers and Staff of the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office
