Florida Murder Suspect Arrested

Kaufman, Texas – A Florida man wanted for attempted murder in Florida was arrested in rural Kaufman County by members of the U.S. Marshal’s Service DFW Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team and the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office on December 8.

Victor Garcia Lozano, of Jupiter, Florida, was arrested without incident at a work site in Post Oak Bend. Authorities in Florida had tracked Lozano, 34, to the residence of a family member in the Kaufman area. They then requested assistance from the Dallas office of the U.S. Marshal’s Service in apprehending him.

Team members (consisting of officers from the USMS, KSO, Kaufman County District Attorney’s Office, and Forney Police Department) located Lozano’s vehicle at a residence on FM 2727. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle as it left the house. After identifying and speaking with occupants of both the vehicle and house, officers went to a construction site in Post Oak Bend and arrested Lozano without incident.

Florida officials had been looking for Lozano following an incident that occurred November 27, 2010, in Jupiter, Florida, in which Lozano is accused of shooting another motorist following an altercation between Lozano and the victim.

The DFW Fugitive Apprehension Strike Teams consist of members of the U.S. Marshal’s Service teamed with officers from local law enforcement agencies. It was formed to apprehend violent criminals wanted for felony offenses in the DFW area.

Lozano is being held without bond in the Kaufman County jail awaiting extradition to Florida to face charges stemming from the shooting there.
