Marijuana Growing Operation Dismantled

Kaufman, Texas –On Wednesday September 1, 2010 through a combined effort involving Texas Department of Public Safety, Seagoville Police Department, Precinct 1 Kaufman County Constable, and the Kaufman County Sheriffs Office, a well established marijuana plant growing operation was discovered and dismantled. The highly developed growing operation was located in an undisclosed location between Crandall and Seagoville.

The seizure included 5,900 marijuana plants. It appears that the illegal growing venture had been going on for some time.

The street value of the marijuana plants after harvest is estimated to be in excess of $250,000.

This case is still under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division.

Sheriff David A. Byrnes stated, “As we see border security tighten, unfortunately we will see more of these types of grow operations in rural counties such as this.”
