Kaufman Texas,- Kaufman County Deputies responded to a call regarding a burglary in progress in the 7000 block of Highway 243, just outside of Kaufman. A 911 report called in by two citizens reported that unknown individuals were loading was appeared to be copper wiring and other property from a residence that was vacant and listed for sale. The caller advised that they followed the vehicle long enough to get the license number, but could not keep up with them.
Deputies quickly spotted the vehicle traveling south bound on FM 429 in front of the College Mound Church and executed a traffic stop. After an inspection of the inside of the car, deputies observed buckets in the rear seat containing miscellaneous copper, brass fittings, and sink fixtures. Bundles of cooper wire and a stove electrical plug with metal shelving and air conditioning coils were also located in the truck.
Investigators at the scene found that the residence as well as the guest house had both been burglarized.
Arrested were Eddie Dwayne King, 39, of Duncanville, Candy Dawn Gray, 35, of Dallas, and Becky Ann Burkett, 53, of Dallas. King was charged with two counts of burglary of a building and Possession of a dangerous Drug. King also was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Lewisville PD. Gray was charged with two counts of burglary of a building, and Burkett was charged with two counts of burglary of a building. Burkett was also wanted on outstanding warrants from Dallas PD.
All three suspects were transported to the Kaufman County Law Enforcement Center where bond was set at $425,482.50 for King, $400,000.00 for Gray and $100, 917.80 for Burkett.
