Kaufman Texas, - An attempted traffic stop led to a pursuit and the arrest of a man from Shreveport Louisiana. A Kaufman County deputy tried to make a traffic stop about 12:04 a.m. Sunday morning April 22, 2012 on Interstate 20 near FM 148, but the driver decided to drive off while the deputy had his arm inside the window. At one point the suspect tried to back his vehicle into the deputy’s vehicle.
The pursuit started in Interstate 20 near FM 148 and continued through Mesquite into Dallas, with speeds topping 90 miles per hour. Officers from Crandall, Mesquite, Dallas County,and DPS entered into the pursuit and the suspect was finally stopped in the 3000 block of South Cockrell Hill in Dallas.
Arrested and charged with Assault of a Public Servant and Evading Arrest Detention with a Vehicle was Edgar Mariam Lee Kinnard, 37, of Shreveport Louisiana.
Kinnard was transported to the Kaufman County Law Enforcement Center where he awaits arraignment.
