Kaufman Texas, - What started out as a traffic stop, turned into two Kemp residents being arrested and charges with drug possession. On April 19, 2012, at approximately 15:59 pm., Kaufman County deputies assisted by Deputy Constables from Precinct One and Four stopped a 1999 GMC pickup on a traffic stop in the 1800 block of S. Houston Street, in Kaufman.
As the deputy interviewed the occupants of the truck, it was determined that the driver did not have a current driver’s license and no liability insurance. During a search of the vehicle deputies found a white plastic baggie containing an off white substance believed to be Methamphetamines.
Arrested and charged with Possession of a controlled substance in penalty group one, over one Gram but under 4 Grams, and driving without a valid license with previous conviction/suspended without fine restitution was James Donald Wylie, 54, of Kemp. Also arrested was Jeffrey Don Wylie, 29, of Kemp. He was charged with possession of a control substance in penalty group one over one gram, but under 4 Grams, as well as two outstanding warrants from Gun Barrel Police Department. Both suspects were transported to the Kaufman County Law Enforcement Center without incident, where they remain at this time.
