Answer a multi-line phone system for both emergency and administrative calls
Receives complaints from public concerning crimes and police/fire/medical emergencies
Operate a multi-channel radio system to receive and transmit pertinent information on calls for service to responding units; maintains the location and status of all units
Operate Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system to input, retrieve, and store calls for service data
Utilize State and National databases (NCIC/TCIC) to input and retrieve confidential information such as warrants, missing person, protective orders, stolen vehicles and property
Conducts computerized searches through local, state, and national databases
Testify in court when required
Required to report to work punctually, work 12 hour shifts, including weekends, holidays, and on call status
REQUIREMENTS
Must be 18 years of age
High School Diploma / GED
Will be issued a temporary Telecommunicators License by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement which is active for 1 year. The officer must be able to obtain a Permanent Telecommunicators License issued by the Texas commission on law Enforcement for continued employment
Must receive and maintain certifications for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, National and Texas Crime Information Center (NCIC/TCIC), and Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS)
Applicant must pass pre-employment testing, background check, drug, physical, and psychological testing
